Each artist portrays a different message while they all are expressing a similar feeling. These pieces connect with each person individually at all stages of a person’s life. 2)    Peintre Cecile Veilhan (2003)

Donald Zolan “Sharing Secrets”

 Donald Zolan
“Sharing Secrets”

Americas beloved painter of children was born on August 11th, 1937 in Brookfield, IL and passed away July 20th 2009 in Scottsdale AZ. Zolan was known as a positive thinker and a “people’s artist”.  I chose this painting because I feel it portrays love and innocence.  Zolan describes this photo as a young boy sharing a secret with his little sister. The closeness of the children connects to my theme of love because it shows the special life long bond that children have with their siblings. The background is very dull and could represent grass as the children or playing. I think he chose a dull background to emphasis the expressions on the children’s face and to make that the main point of the painting. The white paint on the children give the over all painting a glowing effect making it hard not to connect with this picture.

Peintre Cecile Veilhan “Audience watch me”

Peintre Cecile Veilhan
“Audience watch me”
Peintre Cecile Veilhan was born in Nantes, France in 1965. Veilhan painted feminine paintings that connected with all stages of a woman’s life. She is known for making paintings revolving around motherhood as expressed here. Most of her paintings expressed happiness and love. This is exactly what Veilhan was stating in this piece. She was showing the special bond between a mother and her child. This artwork is so beautiful because of the specific attention to texture detail. The baby’s outfit looks so incredibly soft while the mother’s shirt seems flowy and light. The attention to material pattern is what makes this piece so aesthetically beautiful. The background seems to be a home with not too much attention focused. She is apparently sitting in a very beautifully designed couch showing the level of comfort between the two characters. The body language is what makes this photograph so interesting. I chose this picture because it shows a mothers love to her child. Both of their eyes convey so much love and admiration of one another other.

Auguste Rodin famous sculpture “The kiss”

Auguste Rodin
famous sculpture
“The kiss”
Auguste Rodin, born in Paris on November 12, 1840, was a famous sculptor known for creating sculptures. Rodin however wasn’t known for a specific type of art but he did however create many famous pieces. One of Auguste Rodin’s most famous sculptures was “The Kiss” which portrayed the message of love.  Rodin’s message of the sculpture shows the 13th century Italian aristocrat da Rimini, who fell in love with her husband’s younger brother, Paolo. Although this sculptures story tells a story of infidelity it also shows the representation of love. This sculpture is sculpted with the couple sitting on some type of rock. This was not meant to have too much detail because Rodin wanted all of the focus on the couple’s intensity of body language. The curves of the bodies on the sculpture give it a very real life look. I chose this piece because it represent love and desire which is something we all experience throughout our lives.

Albena Vatcheva “Do not leave me”

 Albena Vatcheva
“Do not leave me”
Albena Vatcheva is a known painter born in 1967 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She is known for paintings that represent the mysticism of people who try to rediscover the joy of life. Her inspiration comes from fairy tales. Albena now lives and works in Rouen, France. Albena wanted to represent sensual love in this photo. The title of the painting clearly shows the vulnerability that love requires. This painting represents love by the closeness shown between the two characters. The background shows bright colorful designs but the main focus is definitely on the bodies of the characters and their love for one another. The characters faces show an intense level of comfort with one another.

Leonid Afremov “Alley by the Lake”

 Leonid Afremov
“Alley by the Lake”

Palette knife oil painting
Leonid Afremov was born July 12th 1955 in Vitebsk, Belarus.  He now lives in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. He is a Russian-Israeli modern artist who works primarily with a palette knife and oils. He is known for being a self-representing artist who promotes and sells his work exclusively over the internet with very little involvement in galleries or exhibitions. He developed his own unique technique as an artist using a palette knife combined with oils. He cannot be confused with other artists. Alfremov is one of the most colorful painters out there. His unique skill creates vivid scenes full of bright colors and watery reflections. Alfremov likes to capture an emotion with his work. That was his motivation in this painting. The couple is walking contently through an old Belarusian city. This picture has a wide array of colors involved with primarily warmer colors on the left and cooler colors being expressed on the right. The left of the background features bright cheerful colors with warm colored leaves and full trees. The background on the right however seems cold and dark with stalk like colors. To me this represents the ups and downs of life. The couple is strolling through the city with one another representing love and the work it takes. There is also an umbrella shown which signifies the trials of a relationship and protection. I chose this painting because to me it shows the good and the bad of love. All relationships whether friendships or companions take work and this painting to me expresses that.

Michel Krzyzanowski “Pretty Love”

Krzyzanowski
“Pretty Love”

Michel Szulc-Krzyzanowsi is an artist photographer. He was born in Oosterhout in 1949 and studied at the Academie St. Joost in Breda, the Netherlands. After he graduated in 1970 in photography and free graphic art he started working independently and exclusively on his own photography. He is known for making conceptual photography on deserted beaches in Mexico which is exhibited in museums and galleries. He is also known for making autonomous documentary photography that is published in books, magazines and newspapers and presented in exhibitions. He likes to work on the basis of his own ideas. Michel claims his art is about what he feels about people, places and his experiences among them. Krzyzanowski is a painter, illustrator and designer working with old used paper. In most of Krzyzanowski’s work he likes to use old paper some dating back more than 100 years. This combined with old postcards and stamps ensures he gets a very unique result. He states his technique of wet stamping with various materials, such as jeans, rags and leather give his paintings the expression of realism and truth. This ink painting doesn’t necessarily have a background. Half of the background is in black while the other half is shaped into a couple holding each other while using old paper and postcards. The woman’s features are much more noticeable than the males. I’m not sure if this was done on purpose but there is definitely an emphasis on the connection between the two. Krzyzanowski designed his art around his experiences so this photograph must symbolize a relationship or experience he went through. I chose this ink painting because I not only really liked the picture but I liked the use of the old letters as well. I felt his approach was very unique. This picture represents love not only by the title but by the mannerisms and expressions shown on the woman’s face.

H. Samarel “Holding you Close”

  H. Samarel
“Holding you Close”

Samarel is a digital erotic artist known for his distinctive style and erotically charged images of sexuality. He is an experienced graphic designer of over 15 years with work appearing on many book covers, CD’s, theatre posters, calendars and brochures. His works includes digital portraits, portraits on canvas and his most personal and unfinished cyber-erotica comic, Aliena. This photographs background is a bed with intricate detail of the sheets. The warmer colors of the outside of the picture bring an intense focus to the bodies in the photograph. The woman’s face is completely covered by the man’s arms displaying his affection towards her. The woman’s legs are tightly connected around the man’s body showing her intense desire and connection. The use of color is intriguing and adds overall dimension and emotion. I chose this photograph because it shows the raw act of sex which is an expression of love.

Katie M. Berggren "4 Loves"

Katie M. Berggren
"4 Loves"
This artist was born May 18th 1978. Berggren has been cited as the #1 Motherhood artist in America. Her paintings and prints hang in homes of families in 57+ countries. This painting was actually painted as a surprise holiday gift. The statement for this piece was family and love and was given to a friend with two small boys who was a collector of her work. This photograph is now only offered as a print. I chose this piece because it shows the love a family has for each other. The background is dark and and puts significance on the bodies featured. The flowing of the hair and the expressions on the faces show a sense of softness, nurture and happiness. I like the use of white in this painting it makes the entire painting flow yet stand out. The Husband and wife are looking into each other eyes in admiration and love holding the two children that they created. I chose this photo because it symbolizes family and love. Family love is an intense bond that is like no other.

Ivan Guaderrama “Vivid Heart Painting”

  Ivan Guaderrama
 “Vivid Heart Painting”
The artist was born August 1984 in CuauhtĂ©moc, Chihuahua, Mexico. He received his degree in Plastic Arts from Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. In 2005 he started using a technique called “Live Texture” in which he combines acrylic paint, marble powder and resins. In 2010 he began a new technique which he calls “Glass Expression”. It involves using a fusion of resins, colors and effects on glass. Guaderrama showcases the love of the lord through the hearts found in his artwork. Every heart painting represents either a display of family or romantic love but no matter what the heart painting represents a love that is enduring and everlasting. Most of Guaderramas paintings also have a key symbolizing the one key we are all looking for to unlock the true potential of our heart, a key that he claims can only be found in the hands of Christ.  Guaderramas statement in this piece is that we can tell the content of a person’s heart by simply listening to how and what a person speaks about. The painting is bright and fluorescent. The colors blend into each other creating a whole. The background is not of specific objects or colors but of a beige consistency. The emphasis here is in the color of the heart painted. The bright colors represent love and positivity. I chose this painting because it relates to love on all levels. Love can be spiritual, family oriented, from a friendship or a significant other. No matter what happiness to all of these things stem through your faith in your creator. That is what I feel Guaderrama was trying to convey in this painting.

“A moment of Love” by Giulio Magnifico

Giulio Magnifico “A moment of Love”

Magnifico was born in 1987 on October 6th. He loves street photography, Apple, Jazz and technology. He likes to photograph images that tell a story. He feels that every expression, light and detail tell a story. Giulio has a special interest for photographs representing love and also featuring photographs in black and white. He chooses to tell stories through his work in a positive outlook no matter what the situation. He notes that the street life can be a sad and cruel place but his goal is to present diversity of the city from a positive perspective. Giulio’s goal of this photograph was to capture a personal moment of a couple. The woman is eagerly holding the man’s face smiling as her leg is bent back in a carefree way. The man shows all of his interest in this woman and is holding her very tightly against him. Young love is something most of us experience and it is an intense feeling for the first time. I chose this photograph because it represents that butterfly feeling of love. The love we all yearn for at least once in our lives. The background is a busy, hectic Italian city where there is lots of crime. There are scooters in the background which are used for transportation as well as random pedestrians going about their daily life. Magnifico’s purpose of this photo was to capture a moment of happiness and positivity in a place known for negativity.
Conclusion

During the process of organizing this exhibition by various artists I learned a few things. The most important thing that I learned was that most artists concentrate on one theme or idea. Of course this is not true all of the time but while researching my artists I discovered there were many other pieces that were extremely similar to the piece that I chose. Each artist seemed to have their own individual genre.

Another interesting thing I learned was that some artists combine different uses of tools to create their art. Some used resins others used old letters or even glass. I found this to be extremely interesting and unique. I really enjoyed the fact that artists put that much effort into making their artwork so unique.I also learned to appreciate each and every color and dimension more after learning how much effort was put into these art pieces. For me art expresses a feeling but learning the thoughts behind these artistic pieces made me feel as if I completely understood what the artist was trying to portray. I discovered that learning about each artist gave me a better in depth feeling of the message displayed.
