Auguste Rodin
famous sculpture
“The kiss”
Auguste Rodin, born
in Paris on November 12, 1840, was a famous sculptor known for creating
sculptures. Rodin however wasn’t known for a specific type of art but he did
however create many famous pieces. One of Auguste Rodin’s most famous
sculptures was “The Kiss” which portrayed the message of love. Rodin’s message of the sculpture shows the 13th
century Italian aristocrat da Rimini, who fell in love with her husband’s
younger brother, Paolo. Although this sculptures story tells a story of
infidelity it also shows the representation of love. This sculpture is sculpted
with the couple sitting on some type of rock. This was not meant to have too
much detail because Rodin wanted all of the focus on the couple’s intensity of
body language. The curves of the bodies on the sculpture give it a very real
life look. I chose this piece
because it represent love and desire which is something we all experience throughout our lives.
